Don’t you just hate it when you are stuck behind your desk, staring mindlessly into a monitor, and having to pretend you are working hard? Especially when it is Friday evening and the weekend is so close that you can almost taste it (figurately speaking of course). The time waster I present to you is a nifty little game from ACEVIRAL entitled Virus Killer .

Why did I choose this game? Why with the MS08-67 vulnerability plaguing Windows-based operating systems and with the upcoming Tuesday Patch that addresses some important and critical issues within Windows and MSOffice, I though it a good idea to draw some attention to the issue of IT security . The simple truth of the matter is that more and more people are buying cheap systems, have access to the Internet, but are absolutely clueless to all the potential dangers they expose themselves to.

Getting back to the Virus Killer game, you must know that it is not exactly a work of art like World of Warcraft or Grand Theft Auto , but it is enough to keep you busy for about an hour or so (even longer if you will attempt to get an 100% efficiency rate and play some levels over and over again. What I particularly liked about Virus Killer was the “all right” audio message you can hear when you clear a level – although, if you are going to play this at the office, it would be better to turn off the sound.

Here are a few hints that I am sure you will appreciate:

Do not shoot your syringe at the black squares with the menacing looking virus depicted on them as this will trigger nearby viruses to become invincible.

There are two upgrades that you can benefit from. The first one is represented by a “syringe x 3” block that, as the name suggests, will let you shoot three syringes at once. The second one is represented by a magnifying glass block that will give you a mouse-controlled pink syringe which will come in handy during level 11, 12, 22, 27, and 30.

There are also 3 weapons of mass destruction: a bomb (which will explode and take out all neighboring viruses), a sea mine (which will drop down and take out everything in its path), and a magenta colored test tube that will initiate a syringe carpet bombing.
