We here at FindMySoft, the place where you can find software fast and download it even faster, are launching the Office Time Waster series. This is to say that every Friday we will present you with a means of killing some time, because we know the weekend is on your mind and work is the least of your concerns. Last Friday we showed you the Virus Killer game and tied it with the need to keep a tight lid on security.

The time waster I present to you this Friday is StarShine 2, a nifty little puzzle-type game developed by Jared Riley and Eric Otatti from Hero Interactive. StarShine 2 was released at the start of the month with a few deployment issues, but luckily enough these have all been dealt with, meaning that you can enjoy playing the game trouble-free.

Why did I choose this game? As you may have noticed, this is StarShine 2 – with the emphasis on the number two – meaning that it is a new iteration of the first software version which was launched in the summer of 2007. This is exactly what has been going on this week in the software world. Mozilla has been keeping busy with its Firefox browser, releasing Firefox 3.0.4 and working hard to put out Firefox 3.1 Beta 2. Google as well has been doing some update work: you can now audio and video chat in Gmail, you can use your iPhone to search-by-voice, and you can even watch MGM full length features on the Google owned YouTube. Microsoft, the Redmond software giant, this week has released Windows Mobile v. 6.1.4 and made a few changes to its Hotmail client that did not go down well with the users. In the Linux camp, the first release candidate of Linux Mint 6 has been made available to the general public. Even Opera is playing this update game, dropping Opera Mini 4.2 Beta.

Getting back to the game, here is what Hero Interactive says about it: “StarShine 2 brings the popular geometry puzzle up a big notch by providing many new star types as well as new features such as tips and a hint/solution system! Most exciting however is that we also released a separate puzzle creator!”

I am sure you will find the game extremely interesting, not to mention that to your coworkers it will seem that you are really focused on your work, when you are actually looking for a way to light up those stars. Do not forget to go through the tutorial and use the hint option every once in a while. To play the game, click here.
