As you may remember, Yahoo! announced the launch of the Facebook competition back in February, on the last day of the month to be more precise. Since then numerous Yahoo! Messenger users have submitted their photos and the community voted the best ones. All the votes have been counted and Yahoo! announced that the winner of the Faceoff contest is Von A.

“Von’s winning submission will now be turned into a brand new Yahoo! Messenger emoticon,” explained Yahoo!. Check out an image of the lucky winner and the emoticon he imitated below.

If this is the first time that you hear about the Faceoff competition, let me put things in perspective for you. The competition, which was run on popular social networking site Facebook , launched on the 28th of March. It went something like this;
- Users were asked to take a picture of themselves imitating their favorite emoticon and then submit that picture.
- After the picture was submitted to the Faceoff gallery, the community and Yahoo! Messenger Facebook fans got to cast their votes. The photo that would get the most likes would be declared the winner. Must be mentioned here that there were two rounds of voting.
- The winner of the Faceoff contest won the honor of having his face turned into a new emoticon for Yahoo! Messenger.

In related news , do you know that Yahoo! Messenger does not let you share FilesTube links? Weve recently found out that if you send one of your friends a link to FilesTube, said friend will not receive it. The friend will receive the text you type, but not the link to FilesTube. And if you try to post the link as your status, you will not be allowed to do this – you will be presented with a message that say “Abuse content found. Please modify your status update and share it again.”
