Facebook Messenger is no longer available for Windows. But it is available for Windows Phone. You may no longer use Facebook Messenger on your Windows-powered desktop, but you can use the messaging app on your Windows-powered mobile.

You see, the Facebook Messenger app recently made it to Microsoft’s Windows Phone Store. You can download it right now for free and use it on a Windows Phone 8-powered mobile device. Here’s the link!

The bad news is that Facebook Messenger for Windows (and Firefox) has been discontinued. Facebook stopped supporting the messaging application on the 3rd of March. Facebook representatives said at the time that the company prefers to focus on the mobile versions of Facebook Messenger.

The good news is that Facebook Messenger for Windows Phone has been rolled out to the public. The messaging app was announced this February at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona and was rolled out the public a couple of days after Facebook Messenger for Windows was shut down.

Facebook Messenger for Windows Phone – Main Features
  • Chat with your Facebook friends without having to open the Facebook app.
  • Share photos with others, spice up conversations with stickers.
  • Have one-on-one or group conversations.
  • Share your location with others.
  • See who's using Messenger and who's active on Facebook.
  • Easily turn off notifications.
Facebook Messenger is available for free download on the Windows Phone Store.
Facebook Messenger is also available for free download on Apple’s
App Store and Google’s Play Store.

So to sum it up, Facebook Messenger is no longer available for the desktop. A Mac version was never rolled out, the Windows version was shut down, and so was the Firefox version. Facebook Messenger is available for multiple mobile platforms though. Facebook Messenger is available for iOS, Android, and for Windows Phone as well.
