Flipboard is now available for download in the Windows Store, the Flipboard team and Microsoft were glad to announce.

This means that alongside iOS, Android, and BlackBerry users, Windows 8.1 users can also enjoy Flipboard, the social magazine app that presents all your news and other relevant content in a centralized location.

If you have an iPhone or an Android smartphone, chances are you’re familiar with the Flipboard app. As someone who always wants easy and convenient access to the latest news, I have to say that Flipboard is brilliant. Thanks to the app I get news from numerous online sources and from multiple social networks. From a central location, the app’s magazine-like interface, I have easy access to all the news I want. That is, in my mind, simply brilliant.

The news is that a new category of users can now get to enjoy Flipboard’s wonderful functionality: Windows 8.1 users. Flipboard is now available for Windows 8.1-powered desktops and devices. Go get it for free from the Windows Store here.

“A new edition of Flipboard is available,” said the Flipboard Team, “and it’s a truly beautiful, custom experience with unique touches made just for the Microsoft platform. The Flipboard team looked closely at details like font treatments and page layouts and developed a design that takes advantage of native Windows 8 swipe gestures and such features as live tiles.”
