Everything You Must Know about the Sleek New Xbox One S

Forget about the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One, because Microsoft has a new game console to offer: the slim and sleek Xbox One S, Microsoft’s most advanced Xbox ever.

The main highlights are that it’s 40% smaller than the original Xbox One, comes with a built-in power supply, can be placed horizontally or vertically (by using a vertical stand), features 4K Ultra HD video, up to 2TB of storage, and comes in a stunning "robot white" color (unless you get the red Gears of War 4 limited edition).

Xbox One S – Main new features
  • Size – 40% smaller than the original Xbox One.
  • Controller – a newly designed Xbox Wireless Controller featuring textured grip for enhanced comfort.
  • Movies & video – watch Blu-ray movies and stream video in stunning 4K Ultra HD
  • Games and media – High Dynamic Range (HDR) that brings out the true visual depth of your games and media
  • Storage – 500GB, 1TB and a special 2TB launch edition.
  • Power – built-in power supply.
  • Vertical Stand – the console can be placed horizontally or vertically with an optional stand.
  • Other changes – the dedicated Kinect port has been removed, there’s a new IR blaster, one of the three USB ports and the pairing button have been shifted to the front of the Xbox One S.
  • Color – robot white.
All Xbox One games, accessories and Xbox Live services will work with the new Xbox One S.




Xbox One S – Prices and release date

How much you pay for the Xbox One S depends on how much storage you want to get. The 500GB edition is priced at $299, the 1TB edition is priced at $349, and the limited quantity 2TB launch edition is priced at $399.

The 2TB Xbox One S launch edition, which is available for pre-order from the Microsoft Store and other retailers, will be released on August 2.

In the following regions: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, UK and the United States. Additional regions will be added to the list later this year.

The Xbox One Vertical Stand, which is sold separately for $19.99, is included with the 2TB Xbox One S.




Xbox One S – A closer look at the new controller

The Xbox One S console comes with a wireless controller that features textured grip for enhanced comfort and it also comes with a new thumbstick design that significantly reduces wear and maintains accuracy and smooth rotation over time. Furthermore, Microsoft worked to make the controller’s wireless connection more reliable and to increase its range (expect to get twice the wireless range from this controller).

The new Xbox Wireless Controller will be included with all Xbox One S consoles. It will also be sold separately for $59.99.


Xbox One S Gears of War 4 Limited Edition Bundle

Priced at $449.00, this limited edition bundle isn’t exactly cheap. But, it comes with a custom 2TB Xbox One S console and a limited edition Crimson Omen controller. Furthermore, it lets you download the Gears of War 4: Ultimate Edition full game and the entire Xbox 360 Gears of War collection. And last but not least, it offers a 14-day Xbox Live Gold trial.



The Xbox One S Gears of War 4 Limited Edition 2TB Bundle will be available in the following markets at launch: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and Turkey.
