On Friday, the 23rd of March, the movie adaptation of the first book from Suzanne Collins' wildly popular trilogy 'The Hunger Games' will roll out to the theaters. The news is that you don’t have to wait until Friday to immerse yourself in The Hunger Games world.

Microsoft’s Internet Explorer Team announced that, in partnership with Lionsgate, it came up with a new website called 'Capitol Tour'. It is a HTML5 and CSS3-powered website that fans can visit and, well, take a tour of Capitol city, visit the Avenue of Tributes, and hear an address from President Snow. As Microsoft put it, the site gives fans the chance to experience the world of Panem and its opulent and oppressive Capitol city right in their browser.

So if you are fan of The Hunger Games, can’t wait for the movie to be released, and you want to take a tour of Capitol city, visit the animated and colorful Capitol Tour site, a site that remains true to the style of the movie and the book. The level of detail on the site is amazing – a crack team of creative and technical experts worked hard to come up with a breathtaking level of detail down to the twinkling stars and drifting clouds.

“We wanted to make a breakthrough online experience for fans. We are so excited at what we were able to create with the team at Microsoft by tapping into the power of Internet Explorer and the investments they’ve made in their product to bring Web content to life,” said David Hayes, vice president of digital marketing for movie studio Lionsgate. “We’re thrilled to show off the Capitol Tour to Hunger Games fans around the world.”

Microsoft and Lionsgate recommend that you use Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) to visit the Capitol Tour website. If you’re on the latest version of Firefox, Chrome, Opera or any other browser that supports HTML5, you can use that too.
