Yahoo! recently announced that it plans to revamp Yahoo! Mail service in order to make it faster, cleaner and safer. A beta version of this new and improved Yahoo! Mail will be rolled out to the millions of Yahoo! Mail users in the next few weeks.

“It’s part of our ongoing commitment to deliver the best email service for the 281 million people around the world who use our product. Once the changes roll out, you’ll notice a snappier feel to many of the core features in Yahoo! Mail,” commented Kakul Srivastava, VP Product Management, Yahoo! Communications.

As Srivastava explained, the upcoming Yahoo! Mail Beta will have the following to offer:

New UI
Yahoo! Mail Beta will come with a cleaner, sleeker interface that focuses on speed - helping you navigate faster and more rapidly access the features you need. You will be able to see the new interface regardless if you access Yahoo! Mail Beta from your desktop PC, from a mobile device, or from a tablet device.

Speed
Yahoo! is currently re-architecting several core Yahoo! Mail features. By doing so Yahoo! will make Yahoo! Mail Beta faster – lighting fast is the word that Kakul Srivastava used. “Yahoo! Mail will become faster and more accessible, enabling users to download and respond to messages in lightning speed,” she said.

Spam protection

Back in May we were reporting that according to a Fraunhofer Institute study, Yahoo! Mail fights spam harder, smarter and better. The Fraunhofer Institute found that Yahoo! Mail users saw 40% less spam than Hotmail users and 55% less spam than Gmail users during its research. The soon to be released Yahoo! Mail Beta will offer even better protection against spam.

Social connections
From within Yahoo! Mail Beta you will be able to view and update your Facebook and Twitter pages.

Better utilities
“We are enhancing a number of features into the product, such as video, photo sharing tools, a new version of Yahoo! Messenger, easier ways to SMS, and a refurbished inbox search page,” explained Kakul Srivastava.
