Edward Norton to Judge the Firefox Flicks Video Competition

March marks the start of an exciting competition run by Mozilla: the Firefox Flicks video competition. As part of the Firefox Flicks competition, Mozilla is inviting aspiring filmmakers, animators and creatives to come up with short movies that focus on privacy & security and other issues that affect a user’s online life; the short movies should also focus on what makes Firefox and Mozilla unique. The competition is open to aspiring filmmakers from all over the world.

All the short films submitted as part of the Firefox Flicks video competition will be scrutinized by a panel of Hollywood judges. The panel includes two Academy Awards nominated actor Edward Norton.

The panel of judges also includes Shauna Roberston (she produces some of the best comedies of the last decade), Couper Samuelson (he runs Jason Blum’s Universal-based production company), Jeffrey Silver (he produced over 30 films through his production company Biscayne Pictures), and Ben Silverman (executive producer of the Emmy Award-winning NBC comedy The Office).

The panel of judges will scrutinize all the entries top determine who will win one of the following prizes:
Grand Prize - $10,000
A grand prize winner will be chosen from these four regions: US and Canada, Latin America, Europe, Asia).
Category prize - $5,000
The categories are: Best 30 second spot, Best Animation, Best Public Service Announcement, Best Use of New Open Technology. A winner from the abovementioned 4 regions will be selected for each of these categories.
Category runner-up prize - $1,000
There will be a runner-up winner for each category and from each 4 regions.

On top of the prizes mentioned above, the first 1,000 qualified entrants will receive a limited edition Firefox Flicks prize pack. Exclusive t-shirts, stickers, pens, notebooks, and other goodies are included in the prize pack. Mozilla explained that there will be other prizes – they will be announced throughout the competition.
