The team behind popular micro-blogging and social networking site Twitter announced on Monday, the 2nd of April, that a new version of the Twitter for BlackBerry app has been released to the public; said new version is available for download in the BlackBerry App World. The Twitter team touted the fact that this new version comes with new features and touted the fact that it makes it even easier to connect with others.

From within the browser, you can share links to webpages with Twitter for BlackBerry 3.0, the new app version in question. Because it’s important to keep the number of characters down, when you share links to webpages, the URL is automatically shortened.

Sharing images is easier with Twitter for BlackBerry 3.0. Take a picture with your BlackBerry, then upload it from the device’s camera to Twitter. Alternatively you can upload a photo when writing a tweet.

Here’s something else that you can do with the recently released Twitter for BlackBerry app: share tweets as your BBM Personal Message. You can connect your Twitter account with BlackBerry Messenger and set share a tweet as a BBM Personal Message – and on top of that you can access your contacts' Twitter accounts right from their BBM profiles.

To sum it up, Twitter for BlackBerry 3.0 has been released, bringing with it new features and making it easier to connect with others:
  • Integrates with BBM and lets you share tweets as BBM Personal Messages.
  • Share links to webpages from within the browser (URLs are automatically shortened).
  • Upload pics from the device’s camera or when writing a tweet.

Twitter for BlackBerry is available for download for free in the BlackBerry App World. If you would like to get the app and use it on your device, just click here.
