"It is definitely not a wise move to turn off a security solution because you feel it is interrupting your gaming session," commented Mark James, a security specialist at ESET. "Internet security is your first line of defence [against cybercriminals] and should not be switched off or removed for any reason whatsoever."

The findings presented above are the result of ESET polling over 500 gamers. Here are a few other things that ESET uncovered:
  • 83% spend 2 hours playing their favorite video game (on average).
  • 10% spend between 12 to 24 hours playing video games.
  • 6% have spent a full-day playing video games.
"Gaming is highly addictive and it is no wonder so many respondents from our study admit to playing them for so long," said Mark James.
