ESET Mobile Security Beta for Android Released
ESET, company that offers antivirus software for home and business users, has announced that a Beta version of ESET Mobile Security for Android, a security software solution that combines the company’s proactive scanning engine with antispam and antitheft solutions and thus provides real-time protection to Android-powered smartphones.
If you would like to get ESET Mobile Security Beta for Android, you can download it straight from ESET here. The application works with Android 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, and 2.3. The regular Beta warnings apply: it may not work, it may be buggy, it may ruin your day. Get it only if you understand what Beta testing a product is all about. Otherwise, you are better off waiting for the final version to be released (we don’t know when that will be).
Before you go get ESET Mobile Security Beta for Android, perhaps you may want to know what the application has to offer. Here are its main features:
- Optimized to offer real-time protection without slowing down your Android-powered device. Using proactive heuristics technology, apps, files, folders, memory cards are continually scanned for trojans, viruses, worms, spyware, adware, phishing, spam, and other threats.
- Several features in case your Android is stolen: remote lock, remote wipe, GPS localization.
- Built-in task manager to let you monitor vital phone functions such as battery life, free disk space, running processes, Bluetooth, and device visibility.
- Uninstall protection to prevent unauthorized uninstallation of ESET Mobile Security.
- Block unwanted incoming or outgoing calls.
- SMS and MMS antispam protection.
"As Android-powered smartphones and tablets become increasingly popular, the users often rely on them to store and process significant amounts of sensitive data, in many cases without realizing the risk of putting all that data on a small portable device. What's more, personal information intended to be kept private is continually shared or transferred wirelessly. Files, emails, text and multimedia messages deserve the highest level of protection in order to avoid misuse when placed in the wrong hands. ESET Mobile Security is our answer to rising security concerns in the mobile device sector," said Mobile Security Specialist at ESET, Miroslav Majtaz.
