An online connection will be mandatory to play EA’s new Need for Speed game.

That’s the full reboot version of NFS that will be released this fall for PCs, PlayStation 4 computer entertainment systems, and Xbox One games and entertainment systems.

Electronic Arts (EA), as previously reported, wants to reboot the popular Need for Speed franchise and its Ghost Games studio is working on a new NFS game that is set to be released this fall.

If you were hoping to play the new NFS game offline, I have some bad news for you. EA recently confirmed that you won’t be able to do so. The new NFS game will require an online connection.

NFS will require an online connection, but the benefits are nice. More variety and a more rewarding experience with friends,” announced the official NFS Twitter account.

Ghost Games general manager Marcus Nilsson explained that the NFS reboot will be based on AllDrive, the feature from NFS Rivals that turns the single-player campaign into a multiplayer mode, allowing friends to share the roads and drive in the same world.

In the press release that announces the NFS reboot, EA explains that the new game “will deliver an experience that's grounded in authentic car culture” and added that “the level of detail and real-world authenticity will envelop gamers in an exciting world to discover and enjoy in a way that only Need for Speed can deliver.”

EA’s Ghost Games studio will make sure to include many fan-requested features into the new Need for Speed game: deep customization options, an authentic urban car culture experience, a nocturnal open world, and an immersive narrative.

So far, EA released just a teaser trailer for the NFS reboot. A full trailer will be released on June 15, on the same day as EA’s press conference at E3 2015.
