The 3rd Beta version of the Mozilla Foundation developed Firefox 3.1 browser has finally been made available for testers and fans to download and test. To accommodate the testing needs of users all over the worlds, Firefox 3.1 Beta 3 comes with support for a total of 64 languages, for the Windows, Mac and Linux operating system. The next release will be a 4th Beta, just that it might not be Firefox 3.1 Beta 4 but Firefox 3.5 Beta 4. This change is necessary as to reflect the many changes the development team has made in the software program.

Firefox Director Mike Beltzner comments: “Firefox 3.1 Beta 3 is now available for download. This milestone is focused on testing the core functionality provided by many new features and changes to the platform scheduled for Firefox 3.1. Ongoing planning for Firefox 3.1 can be followed at the Firefox 3.1 Planning Center, as well as in mozilla.dev.planning and on irc.mozilla.org in #shiretoko.”

The Mozilla Foundation would very much like all testers and Firefox fans to provide feedback on Firefox 3.1 Beta 3. The features and changes made by Mozilla that need your attention, are as follows:
- Private Browsing Mode (or Porn Mode as it is called by some) now boasts a “Forget This Site” feature. You can access it from the History sidebar.
- The TraceMonkey JavaScript engine has been tweaked in order to provide enhanced stability and performance.
- JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) native support.
- The Gecko layout engine has also been tweaked; it now provides speculative parsing for faster content rendering.
- Support for: web worker, <audio> and <video> elements, W3C Geolocation API, JavaScript query selectors, CSS 2.1 and 3 properties, SVG transforms and offline applications.

Please note that this is still a Beta version and as such, there are still some known issues and some bugs affecting the software. Firefox 3.1 Beta 3 is meant for people that are willing to put the software through its paces and do not mind running into software bugs; if you do not fit the profile, the latest stable version of the Mozilla browser is Firefox 3.0.7.
