Download HD Videos from YouTube
The Google owned YouTube, with its widescreen display, features plenty of online video content for the world to see; but what if you don’t want to access YouTube every time you want to see a high definition (HD) video? In that case you get a software application like YouTube Downloader HD 1.0 and save that video directly onto your HDD.
YouTube Downloader HD version 1.0, which you can use free-of-charge, had to be launched after YouTube not too long ago introduced High Definition and High Quality videos. The software works in a simple enough manner: simply copy the URL link of the video you want to download into YouTube downloader HD and hit the “Start” button – in just a few moments you will have an HD AVI or iPod-compatible MP4 file stored onto your machine.
What about traditional FLV videos featured on YouTube? With YouTube Downloader HD 1.0 you can download them just as easily as you would any HD video; you can even convert them to AVI format.
The downside is that YouTube Downloader HD only works on Windows-based operating systems (Winodws XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7) and it only works with the YouTube web page (you cannot use the software application to download videos from other sites on the web).
In related Google/YouTube news, you might have noticed that there are some music videos on YouTube with no sound. This is because Google is trying to fight copyright infringement. The YouTube team explains: “Previously, when a music label or other rights owner issued a copyright claim to block audio, the video was automatically taken down. Uploaders had two choices: dispute the claim (in the case of fair use, for example) or use our AudioSwap tool to replace the track with one from our library of pre-cleared music. Now we've added an additional choice. Instead of automatically removing the video from YouTube, we give users the option to modify the video by removing the music subject to the copyright claim and post the new version, and many of them are taking that option.”
