Doom Free Update #4 Intros a Feature that Unlocks Everything: Arcade Mode

Doom, the critically-acclaimed and brutally fun first-person shooter video game, just got another free update. The fourth free update that Bethesda rolled out brings with it several new features, chief among them being the much-anticipated Arcade Mode that unlocks everything – all the guns, all the equipment upgrades, and all the runes.

With Arcade Mode, Bethesda turned Doom’s single player campaign into a fast-paced, competitive, score-based challenge. Your goal is to play through the campaign as best you can and try to earn a high score.

Bethesda’s Jason Leavey explains:

"Play every level with all guns, Runes and equipment upgrades fully unlocked. Customize your DOOM Marine's gear, guns and Praetor suit before each run to see what combinations will give you an edge. Compete against friends and players worldwide for the highest score by attacking demons quickly, avoiding their attacks and grabbing multipliers along the way. This is a perfect opportunity to replay one of the best single-player FPS experiences of 2016, and for the speed runners out there to make their mark. Good luck!".

Free Update #4 has a few other things to offer. Before I list everything that’s included in the update, I want to mention the two new multiplayer modes, Possession and Bloodrush.

Possession is a Marines vs. Prowlers mode where a team of Marines go against several Prowler demons. When a Marine dies, that Marine will respawn as a Prowler.

Bloodrush forces you to manage your Bloodrush meter in order to respawn. The meter drains gradually over time, drains faster the longer the match goes on, and it drains a lot if you die. Kills and assists add to your meter.
