Instagram, the incredibly popular service that lets you share pictures and videos, recently updated its app for iOS and Android-powered smartphones.

The updated apps come with a couple of cool new features: discover new people and edit captions.

The Instagram app for iOS has recently been updated to version 6.2. The Instagram app for Android has recently been updated as well, but to version 6.1. Both these apps introduce a couple of new features: a feature that lets you discover new people and a feature that lets you edit captions.

Instagram Update – Discover New People

Instagram enhanced the Explore page with a simple and clear goal in mind: to help you easily find people you want to follow. This means that if you get the updated Instagram app for iOS or Android, the app will help you discover new people, the app will help you easily and quickly find interesting accounts.

To open the Explore page you will have to tap the new magnifying glass icon down at the bottom on your smartphone’s screen. You'll see that the Explore page features two tabs:
  • Photos, which contains a scrolling grid of photos and videos.
  • People, which lists interesting accounts.

Instagram Update – Edit Captions

In the past, if you posted something and you messed up the caption, there was nothing you could do about it. Lots of Instagram users demanded they be allowed to edit captions. Instagram finally listened to them and introduced one of the top requests from the Instagram community: the ability to edit captions on posts.

The menu beneath your posts features a new Edit option. Use it to edit captions on your posts.

If you have problems using the new Explore page and if you have problems using the new Edit function for captions, visit the Instagram Help Center.
