The Deck the Halls with Facts and Knowledge competition that was launched by Wolfram Alpha in time for the winter holidays has come to an end, announced the team behind the computational knowledge engine developed by British-born physicist and Mathematica creator Stephen Wolfram.

“Today we’re officially wrapping up Wolfram|Alpha’s Deck the Halls with Facts & Knowledge Holiday Gift-Away by re-opening the gallery and announcing the winners!” announced the Wolfram Alpha team yesterday. If you want to check out all the entries and see who are the lucky winners, just click here.

If you don’t remember how the Deck the Halls with Facts and Knowledge went, here’s a reminder of how it went. Contestants submitted a fun fact (described as “unique Wolfram|Alpha result that has some cultural or scientific significance, one which you’ve likely never stumbled upon anywhere else on the web”) to Wolfram Alpha who picked the most interesting 500 fun facts. Those who were lucky enough to be picked received a paper Spikey sculpture kit, created their own Spikeys, took a photo with Spikey, and uploaded it to a Wolfram Alpha Photo gallery.

The photo gallery opened on the 15th of December, allowing users to vote for their favorite pictures. Users had the change to vote daily until the 3rd of January 2011. Those who voted had the chance to win a cool Wolfram Alpha T-shirt during the daily drawing (T-shirt that you could not find anywhere lese).

Out of all the 500 entries, the 25 entries with the highest vote totals were declared winners as part of the Deck the Halls with Facts and Knowledge competition. Here are the prizes Wolfram Alpha put up:
Grand prize – Mathematica Professional, a piece of software valued at $2495.
Second prize – an iPad valued at $499.
Runner up prizes – Wolfram Alpha iPhone/iPod/iPad/Android apps, Wolfram Alpha t-shirts, and Wolfram Alpha laptop skins, $50 Wolfram Store credits.
