The Windows 7 Build 7048 version that we talked about earlier is once again making the headlines, and for all the good reasons (unlike the time when it was nothing more than a fake). It would seem that as Microsoft is getting closer and closer to making Windows 7 Release Candidate available to the general public, it is already implementing some of the changes in Win7 RC that it has announced, alongside making some improvements with the visual aspect of the operating system

Here are the changes in Windows 7 Build 7048 that we are already aware of:
- Choose between different language packs and SKU versions.
- The Start icon is even brighter and shinier.
- Updated icons in the Control Panel, HomeGroup Paint, Sticky Notes and Calculator.
- Alt + Tab switch with Aero Peek effects.
- Fit more icons in the taskbar without having the scrollbar make an unwanted appearance.
- Internet Explorer 8 (not IE8 RC1) that you can turn off if you want to.
- No more annoying “Send Feedback” links.

Just as with Windows 7 Beta1, Build 7000, which featured new and hidden themes, this latest build of the Windows 7 OS has new wallpapers and country specific wallpapers – their resolution is of 1920*1200, so they will look beautifully on your monitor as long as it is not huge (like 30 inches). Realizing that not all of you have Windows 7 Build 7048 installed on your machine, but would like to see what wallpapers Microsoft has come up with, here is where you can download these wallpapers.

Besides the new wallpapers, there are also new sound schemes to enjoy in Windows 7 Build 7048. “After downloading the file, extract it and you'll get 13 folders containing the sound files. To apply the new sound scheme, first take a backup of existing sound files present in "%windir%Media" folder (here %windir% means "Windows" folder present in system drive where your Windows is installed). Then copy the new sound files from any of these new 13 folders and paste them in "Media" folder,” explains Tweaking with Vishal.

Some of the icons have also been updated. To check them out, here is a download link.
