Cuddle: (noun) a prolonged and affectionate hug; (verb) fondle in the arm, hug tenderly, to nestle, to snuggle.

If you’re in the mood for cuddling but you don’t have anyone to cuddle with, the Cuddlr app is here to lend a helping hand. This is a location-based social-meeting app that finds people near you, people who are willing to cuddle.

If you want to find someone to date, you can use an app like Tinder. If you’re in a relationship and you want to have an affair, you can use the Ashley Madison app. But what if you don’t want to date someone and you don’t want to have extra-marital sex? What if you just want to cuddle?

If that is the case, you can use the appropriately named Cuddlr app to find someone who is up for cuddles. Cuddlr is like a sex-free alternative to Tinder. Instead of meeting a stranger and going on a date, you can meet a stranger and, well, cuddle.

“Our culture doesn't have a space for closeness without pressure. The way we talk about meeting and sharing space and contact with someone assumes that it's centered explicitly around sex and dating, or based on the kind of affection a parent might show a child. We're not getting the right type of contact often enough; we don't give and get enough hugs. Hooking up is certainly not always a bad thing, but there's definitely an under-explored time and a place for a more gentle, no-pressure intimacy, and that's what Cuddlr aims to help with,” says the FAQ on cuddlrapp.com in response to the question “What was the inspiration for Cuddlr.”

Cuddlr App – Main Features
  • "Cuddlrs" – view a list of people who are up for a cuddle. The list is populated with Cuddlr users who are near your location; users who are in walking distance from your location.
  • Send cuddle requests – select anyone from the list and ask that person if he or she wants to cuddle.
  • Respond to requests – you can see who wants to cuddle with you and accept or decline the cuddle request.
  • Directions –walking directions are offered so that you can easily meet up with your cuddle partner.
  • Block individuals – there’s an option that lest you block individuals.
The Cuddlr app is currently available for iOS only. You can get it for free from the App Store.

The Android version is still in the works. Visit cuddlrapp.com, sign up, and you will be notified when Cuddlr for Android is released to the public.
