Zynga, the social network games developer best known for the popular Facebook game FarmVille, has recently announced that it is working on a new game called CityVille. The developer described the CityVille game, which is expected to be released in the coming weeks, as its most social game ever. The game will be rolled out to the immensely popular social networking site Facebook and on the CityVille.com site.

“CityVille is where Monopoly meets Main Street," said Sean Kelly, GM of CityVille. "We are thrilled to bring the world our most social game to date – building on the best-of-breed gameplay that Zynga fine-tuned with FarmVille and FrontierVille. Instead of harvesting crops you're harvesting your neighborhood, instead of clearing your friend's frontier you're working on a friend's franchise. We hope players from around the world have as much fun playing CityVille as we had building it."

If you visit the CityVille.com site right now you will only see a message that says “we’re hard at work putting the finishing touches on our newest game, CityVille!” You can click the “like” button on CityVille.com and you will be notified when the game is released. At the time of writing this more than 17,000 Facebook users have clicked the “like” button.

The new CityVille game will be a combination of FarmVille and The Sims – or as CityVille General Manager Sean Kelly put it, “where Monopoly meets Main Street.” You will get to create an entire city from scratch, which means you will get to build roads and homes and schools and parks and other things of the sort. The great thing is that the buildings are 3D. You will earn money by trading with other cities and collecting rent. Or you can just use Facebook credits to purchase in-game currency.

“CityVille represents the most sprawling game board for Zynga allowing players to grow a thriving city, balance the needs of citizens, run restaurants and businesses and harvest crops. CityVille also features Zynga's first 3D-rendered buildings and characters and represents the most interactive Zynga game board to date,” said Zynga in a press release.

Please note that when CityVille will be rolled out, it will carry the Beta tag and it will only be available in English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish.
