Chrome for Android Get 25% Faster, More Responsive

Google announced that it updated it Chrome for Android browser and focused on making the browser faster and more responsive. The company also updated Chrome for iOS, improving its search and sharing functions.

Speed is important for Google, that is a proven fact. The company’s Chrome browser was praised for its speed from launch and Google has constantly worked on making it quicker and speedier. The news is that Google has just updated it Chrome app for Android-powered devices and focused on making the app faster and more responsive. Grace Kloba & Rohit Rao, Especially Mobile Software Engineers, explain:

“Speed is critical, especially when you’re on the go. With the latest version of Chrome for Android, you can scroll and fling to view all of your favorite web pages with even more speed and ease. Based on the latest version of the V8 Javascript engine, now optimized for mobile, we have improved the Octane performance benchmark by 25 percent on average since our previous update. This means that interactions within web pages in the browser are snappier.”

Another interesting thing about the updated Chrome for Android app is that it expands support for HTML5 features, like CSS Filters.

Alongside Chrome for Android, Google also updated Chrome for iOS. With this update Google focused on improving the browser’s search and sharing functions:
- The search term is displayed in the omnibox, letting you refine search queries and get more content on the results page. Please note that this feature is being rolled out gradually; you may not see it just yet, even if you update the Chrome app.
- Press and hold the back button to access your tab history.
- Share a webpage via email or via a social network from Menu -> Share.
