Twitter has recently rolled out an app for Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system. Use it to easily share and discover content on your Windows 8-powered tablet. The app is available for free, in 22 languages, directly from the Windows Store here.

The development team behind popular micro-blogging and social networking service Twitter was glad to announce that the new Twitter for Windows 8 app was rolled out to the public. “We’re excited to bring this Twitter app to Windows 8 users, and hope you’ll enjoy it too,” commented Design Lead, Mike Kruzeniski. Go get the app and you will recognize familiar Twitter features such as the Home, Connect, Discover, and Me tabs. Go get the app and you will also uncover a few new features that tae advantage of the unique features the touch-optimized Windows 8 operating system has to offer.

Twitter for Windows 8 – New Features:

Snap View – lets you use another app alongside the Twitter app. After you snap Twitter to the side of the screen, you can stream a live video for example. So to sum it up, you can keep an eye on Twitter while working with another app.

Landscape View – view a larger photo preview, tap a photo to see it in full screen mode, swipe to view multiple photos in the Discover tab or in a user’s profile, view a user’s photo gallery with ease.

Share Charm – tweet links, pictures, or comments while using another app by using the Share charm. You can easily access it by swiping from the right edge of Windows 8.

Search Charm – this charm helps you search for content on Twitter even though you’re using another app. It works much like the aforementioned Share Charm; it shows up when swiping from the right edge of Windows.

Live Tiles and Notifications – as they show up no matter what app you’re using, these will help you stay on top of what’s happening on Twitter.

The Twitter for Windows 8 app is available in 22 languages: English, Danish, German, Spanish, Finnish, French, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Dutch, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Chinese (PRC), Chinese (Taiwan).
