IKEA, company that is best known for its ready-to-assemble furniture, has recently rolled out a mobile app called IKEA Emoticons. Available for iOS and Android, this is an emoji keyboard app. You can use it to add all sorts of emoji or emoticons to your texts. Here are some examples.

As IKEA explained, this app’s purpose is to “improve communication at home.” Here’s what it says on the Emoticons webpage:

“Men and women have always found difficulty in communication. In the home situation misunderstandings occur most around clutter. And that is why IKEA introduces Emoticons: a communication tool to ensure universal love and understanding in your home. All your hints, desires and questions will be understood right away. Give it a try. Start spreading happiness.”

The same point is presented in a fun little video that promotes IKEA Emoticons. I’ve embedded it below and I advise you to check it out. It is quite funny!

Which reminds me! Back in September 2014, IKEA brilliantly mocked Apple when it presented its new “bookbook” device. Said device is only 8mm thin, weighs in at less than 400g, comes pre-installed with thousands of furnishing ideas, and much more. Jörgen Eghammer, Chief Design Guru at IKEA, presents the bookbook’s main features in the video embedded below. Check it out for a laugh!

Let’s get back to the topic at hand. Here’s a quick list of what IKEA Emoticons has to offer.

IKEA Emoticons – Main Features
  • Emoticons or emoji – easily access a nice variety of emoticons or emoji.
  • Communicate better – better convey your thoughts, better communicate with others by inserting emoticons into your texts.
  • Availability – this app is available for free on Apple’s App Store and Google Play.
Please note that IKEA Emoticons requires iOS 8.0 or later.
Please note that IKEA Emoticons requires Android 4.0 and up.
