This 1.6MB piece of software developed by David Zidar from Steamcore Software Solutions will come in handy when you want to listen to music, online radio stations to be more specific. There are two things that Screamer Radio does, and does well: it lets you choose from a huge library of online radio stations and will play the music you select; it also lets you record the music streams you like with a simple mouse click. It is a simple, honest piece of software with a set-it-and-forget-it feel that you will appreciate.

Downloading and using Screamer Radio 0.4.3 on your machine will not cost you a thing because this is freeware. There is no Linux or Mac support, this version will only work on Windows-base systems (Windows 2000, XP, and Vista). Up to this point in time Steamcore Software Solutions has come up with two programs. The flagship is Screamer Radio; the second software application is Process Controller which is currently still in its Alpha development phase.

Here are the features that should determine you to download the software and use it on your machine: it is incredibly easy to use, it does not have useless features to make it bloated, it has the capability to use multiple sound cards, it updates itself automatically, and the best thing of them all is that it will silently run in the background (hidden in the system tray) and let you go about your business.

In terms of features, Screamer Radio has two major feature categories: playback and recording. In the playback category we must mention SHOUTcast and Icecast MP3 and OGG Vorbis streaming support, WMA streaming, and AAC streaming. In the recording category we must mention that the whole song will be recorded, regardless of the fact that you decided to record it several minutes into the melody – and it is all done with an emphasis on sound quality.

If you would like to put this software to the test, use it at home or at the office, you can download it here.
