As of today, the 14th of January 2009, Cartoon Network is joining the ranks of MappleStory and Warhammer Online by finally releasing the FusionFall massively multiplayer online (MMO) game. The game, which has been developed by the Time Warner owned Cartoon Network in collaboration with Majesco Entertainment, places you into the middle of a Cartoon Network universe alien invasion, and don’t you know it, you have to save everybody.

In the game you can expect to see your favorite CN (Cartoon Network for short) characters: Ben 10, Dexter, Samurai Jack, The Powerpuff Girls, Number 1 through 5 from Kids Next Door, and so on. Not to let anyone down, no sound-alike voiceover artists have been used; the game features the same voice talents from the original shows.

Releasing FusionFall was not exactly a piece of cake for CN; the game was originally slated for release in the spring of 2008, then it was pushed back for the summer of 2008, then again for the summer of 2008, abd yet again for the autumn of 2008. The final release date has eventually been set for the 14th of January, which is today. The release is expected to be a grand one, if you keep in mind that about 2.5 million user accounts were generated while FusionFall was still in Beta.

Here are some other useful pieces of info you need to be made aware of. You can play the game directly into your browser’s window, which will set you back $5.95 for a one month subscription (there is also a box version of the game that comes with a 4 month subscription and costs about $20). The game is not meant for hardcore gamers and this aspect surfaces in the amount of time it takes to complete a quest or mission: aprox. 30 minutes (just like an episode of your favorite CN show).
