One of the apps that any Windows user should have is the Piriform-developed CCleaner (that’s short for Crap Cleaner), a tool that is offered for free for personal use, an app that as its name suggests cleans the crap from your PC. The good news is that the awesome functionality of CCleaner will soon be available to Mac users as well. Piriform, the privately owned UK software developer dedicated to creating top quality applications for Windows, announced yesterday that it will release a public Beta version of CCleaner for Mac in the very near future.

“CCleaner for Mac will be released as a public beta version for everyone to download in the next few days!” said Piriform. “Support for other operating systems and hardware is one of the most frequent questions we get emailed about. So we're starting out first with a Mac version.”

Right now CCleaner for Mac is in private Beta testing. The public Beta version will become available for download at piriform.com/mac. Visit the site right now and you will be greeted with the message that the public Beta starts in June. On the site you can sign up to Piriform’s newsletter and be informed when CCleaner for Mac becomes available for download.

So to sum it up, this June a public beta of the free CCleaner application that has offered much needed functionality to Windows users for years will be rolled out for Mac users to enjoy. The regular Beta warnings apply: the app may not work properly, it may be buggy, it may ruin your day. If you know what Beta testing is all about, then by all means go ahead and get it. If you don’t want to bather with a potentially troublesome application, then it would be best to wait until the final version of CCleaner for Mac is released.

In related news, the latest version of CCleaner for Windows is 3.06.
