The big news this month is that the final version of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 9 was rolled out (and according to Microsoft it was downloaded more than 2.3 million times in the first 24 hours) and that the final version of Mozilla’s Firefox 4 browser has been released to the public. Now comes the news that CCleaner, a free Windows tool that removes files that are needlessly taking up space on your computer, has been updated to provide support for IE9 and Firefox 4.

Piriform, the privately owned UK software developer dedicated to creating top quality applications for Windows, announced that CCleaner has been updated to version 3.05. CCleaner 3.05 is fully compatible with the latest versions of Internet Explorer and Firefox.

“We've been closely following the release schedule of the latest browsers to keep CCleaner fully compatible. With both Firefox 4.0 and Microsoft's Internet Explorer 9 being released this month, we've updated CCleaner in version 3.05 to be fully compatible with both!” said Piriform.

Piriform went on to say that CCleaner 3.05 comes with an improved registry cleaner and with many new 3rd party cleaning rules. The complete list of change is available here.

You can download CCleaner 3.05 straight from Piriform here. If you’re already using CCleaner you should receive an automated update notification. I wholeheartedly advise you to get CCleaner and that’s because it is a free and easy to use application that allows you to get rid of junk files, rapidly uninstall applications, check for Windows Registry errors, and wipe clean entire drives.

I mentioned above that final versions of IE9 and Firefox 4 have been released to the public. If you would like to learn more about IE9 click here; download it straight from Microsoft here. If you would like to learn more about Firefox 4 click here; you can download it straight from Mozilla here.
