Piriform has just recently updated its cleaning tool, the popular CCleaner application, to version 4.02. This update, as the developer explained, focuses on browser support. CCleaner 4.02 comes with optimized cleaning for Mozilla’s Firefox and for Microsoft Internet Explorer 10 (IE10) browser. Furthermore, CCleaner 4.02 comes with enhanced detection of Google Chrome Startup items.

CCleaner Release Notes (as provided by Piriform)
  • Improved Download History cleaning for Firefox
  • Optimized Cookie cleaning for Internet Explorer 10
  • Optimized detection of Google Chrome Startup items
  • Improved compatibility with Internet Explorer 10
  • Improved System and Browser Monitoring (Pro Version)
  • Improved drive detection in File Finder
  • Added cleaning for Adobe Fireworks 6.0, Nero 12 Platinum HD Suite, Foxit Reader 6.0, Virtual Clone Drive, PDFCreator and PDF Architect
  • Improved cleaning for Freemake Video Converter
  • Minor bug fixes and GUI improvements.
As mentioned above, the latest CCleaner version comes with optimized cleaning for Mozilla’s Firefox browser. The latest version, Firefox 21, which was released earlier this May, boosts the browser’s social capabilities. The Social API that was introduced with Firefox 17 received support for more providers with Firefox 21. Facebook was the original social integration partner in Firefox, the first provider to be supported by the social API. Cliqz, Mixi, and msnNOW now sit alongside Facebook and are supported by the Social API.

Thanks to the Social API, social services can be integrated into the browser, thus allowing you to have a more social browsing experience within Firefox. Features such as a social sidebar, toolbar notification buttons and the ability to easily chat with your friends are provided by the Social API. As you surf the web, you can stay connected to your favorite social site and with your friends; you do not have to open lots of tabs and switch between them while surfing the web.
