The development team behind popular multiprotocol instant messaging app Digsby has recently rolled out Build 81 to the general public. The great thing is that Build 81 comes with “some highly coveted new features, bug fixes, and enhancements”, as the development team explained.

If you would like to get Digsby Build 81, you can download the application free of charge here (available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux users). But perhaps you would like to know what the “highly coveted new features” mentioned above are. Here are the great new features that Build 81 brings to the table:

Group Chat
The much requested group chat feature has finally been implemented into Digsby with Build 81. This means that you can create or join chat rooms on AIM, ICQ, Yahoo, MSN, Google Talk, and Jabber. To do so you need only click the room list button from the top right corner of the IM window, then invite others to join the chat. Alternatively you can click Digsby -> New Group Chat.

Redesigned LinkedIn Implementation
Build 81 uses LinkedIn’s brand new API to let you comment on posts, like or dislike items, and do all the other thinks you can already do on other social networks.

Like and Dislike Support for MySpace

Digsby Build 81 now lets you like or dislike MySpace newsfeed items. “Since their API doesn’t currently support this capability, the link acts as a shortcut for posting a “Like!” or “Dislike!” comment on the thread,” explained the Digsby team.

The last time we covered Digsby was back in June when Build 79 was released. Build 79 came with an enhanced spell check feature, a better Facebook Chat implementation, Twitter achievements, and a fix for a bug that caused Google Talk to constantly disconnect if you have an iTeleport user in your buddy list.
