The first update of the year, Build 76, has been released for Digsby, the multiprotocol instant messaging app that provides support for some of the most popular networks out there. According to the team behind the application, Digsby Build 76 is “jam packed with lots of goodness”. Here’s what they meant by that:
  • There are 8 new variants for the Windows 7 skin.
  • Digsby Build 76 provides support for Windows 7. The app uses jump lists to give you easy access to common tasks and top buddies. It also uses taskbar grouping to let you easily jump to conversations, to display unread conversation counts and let you see typing notifications.
  • Popup behavior has been enhanced. “Social networks will no longer show a separate popup for Alerts and the titles will no longer say “Facebook Newsfeed” with a generic Facebook icon. Instead, you will see the friend’s picture and name with a small badge in the top right for each network. You can also comment/like Facebook items right from popups,” explained the Digsby team.
  • The latest trending news will be delivered to your social feeds thank to a partnership with OneRiot. This feature can be disabled if you don’t like it.
  • The option to “dislike” Facebook posts has been added.
  • The MySpace Newsfeed has been revamped.
  • “Achievements” is being ported to MySpace.
  • Support for Yahoo! HTTP has been added.

“If you run into any bugs please use “Help > Send Bug Report” in the main menu to submit a diagnostic log or email us at bugs@digsby.com. We’ll keep pushing to make Digsby even better and greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word” said the Digsby Team.

What’s next for the Digsby multiprotocol IM app? According to the development team behind Digsby, per-character formatting will be added soon. This feature allows users to bold parts of a message. In the future a feature that has been long overdue will be added as well: group chat. Last but not least, the team will focus on the Mac OS X and Linux versions of Digsby. For the time being the official status one these Digsby versions is “coming soon.”
