The Blackberry Curve 8900 has recently received an update, and official one this time, referring to the OS used by the device – OS 4.6.1.133. The updated OS is already available for download directly from the developer. In related news, it seems that more details on yet another unofficial BlackBerry Storm OS have leaked online: OS 4.7.0.99 for BlackBerry Storm 9530.

If you are the proud owner of a BlackBerry Curve 8900, codename Javelin, then by all means update the operating system of your device. I cannot provide you with in depth details on what the update provides – the only thing that is known for sure is that this is an official release, meaning that you should not run into problems. Still, expect the unexpected an backup before you update.

The mystery deepens with OS 4.7.0.99 for BlackBerry Storm 9530 – it is available for download, and a download location is provided at the bottom of this article, but I’m not exactly sure you should use it to update your BlackBerry. Keep in mind that it is an unofficial leak (no release notes, no changelogs), so backup and keep your fingers crossed – this is if curiosity gets the best of you and you want to check out the potential changes in OS 4.7.0.99.

One of the most famous Blackberry users out there is US President Barack Obama. Since he has been sworn in and has taken his position in the White House, rumors started to circulate that he no longer uses a BlackBerry, but a different device. Barack Obama in an interview for the NBC said the device he currently uses has fingerprint recognition, “it has everything” and can even “turn into a car” (obviously he was joking), but he refused to answer the direct question whether he continues to use a BlackBerry or not.
