BitTorrent, the San Francisco-based company that is responsible for the ongoing development of the BitTorrent peer-to-peer protocol and the uTorrent and BitTorrent applications, just announced that BitTorrent Sync, its cloudless sync tool, has reached version 2.0.

The cool think about Sync 2.0 is that it finally drops the Beta tag. If you kept your distance because you know that Betas are fidgety, you don’t have to stay away anymore. The Beta tag is off and BitTorrent Sync is now available as a final product. You can get BitTorrent Sync for Windows and Mac OS X right here on FindMySoft. You can also get it directly from BitTorrent.

BitTorrent Sync 2.0 introduces a paid Pro tier. BitTorrent Sync Free offers fast transfer speeds, no folder size limits, and private device-to-device communication. BitTorrent Sync Pro covers all these and adds more entries to the list of features: unlimited number of folders, access to all shared folders, on-demand access from the desktop, control folder ownership and change permissions at any time, licensed for business use, Pro support.

BitTorrent Sync Pro is priced a $39.99 per year, per user.
Volume discounts are available for teams and companies.

“From the onset, we invested in Sync because we knew that the BitTorrent technology would allow us to build the most efficient way to move data between people and devices. It enabled us to address major drawbacks of the public cloud, but retain the benefits. As the product grew and matured, each iteration focused on empowering users to do more and making it easier to use,” said Erik Pounds, VP of Product Management, and the BitTorrent Sync team.

BitTorrent Sync – Main Features
  • Sync and share – with BitTorrent sync you can sync files and folders across all your devices and you can set up shared folders.
  • Intelligent, automatic synchronization – Sync is intelligent and knows to update only the parts of a file that have changed. Sync automatically updates and syncs shared folders.
  • Peer-to-peer technology – Sync uses peer-to-peer technology to transfer data from one device to another. P2P tech ensures files are transferred at the maximum speed supported by your network.
  • Device-to-device transfer – speaking about your network, Sync does not need the internet or the cloud, it can use your local network to transfer data.
  • Security and privacy – all data transfers are encrypted; privacy controls include Read-Only/Read & Write options, link expiration, and approval settings.
  • Availability – Sync is available for multiple platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS. Sync is available as a Free and as a Pro version.
