BitTorrent, the software company behind the BitTorrent peer-to-peer file sharing protocol as well as the BitTorrent and uTorrent applications, recently introduced a new app called BitTorrent Shoot.

It uses BitTorrent Sync technology to help you batch share photos. It’s especially useful if you have an iPhone and you want to effortlessly send multiple photos to a friend who has an Android.

BitTorrent Shoot – Main Features
  • Just scan a QR – select the photos or videos you want to share, let your friends scan a QR code, and wait for the transfer to complete. Your first 3 sends are free, after which there’s a one-time charge of $1.99. It’s always free for the receiver.
  • Share lots of photos – BitTorrent Shoot has no problems sharing a big batch of photos.
  • Share long videos – BitTorrent Shoot has no problems sharing long videos.
  • Based on BitTorrent Sync – BitTorrent Shoot has no problems sharing lots of photos and large videos because it is based on BitTorrent Sync, BitTorrent’s cloudless and secure sync tool.
  • Availability – BitTorrent Shoot is available for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.
This means that you can use BitTorrent Shoot on an iPhone to share photos with friends who have an Android or a Windows Phone. Or you can use BitTorrent Shoot on an Android to share photos with friends who have an iPhone or a Windows Phone.

That’s something that frequently happens when I socialize with my colleague Frederick Barton; we usually end up sharing photos took with our smartphones. But he has an iPhone and I have an Android. So to transfer the photos, we have to use a Bluetooth connection, send them via email, or use a cloud service. Thanks to BitTorrent Shoot, we won’t have to use any of these methods from now on. All I’ll have to do is snap a QR code and I’ll have the photos in no time at all.

Additional information about BitTorrent Shoot is available on its official webpage.
