Beta Version of OS X Yosemite Rolls Out to the Public

The final version of OS X 10.10 Yosemite will be rolled out to the public this fall. The Beta version though, you can get that right now. On Thursday, July 24, Apple is opening up the OS X Beta Program to the public.

You can sign up for the OS X Beta program here. You will receive an App Store promo code that you can use to get the Beta version of OS X 10.10 Yosemite.
Please note that OS X 10.10 Yosemite Beta will be offered to the first million people who sign up.

OS X 10.10 Yosemite – Main New Features
  • Interface – the operating system has been redesigned and comes with a fresh, modern look. Everything is clear, crisp, and easy to understand.
  • Today view in Notification Center – a central location that presents all the things you need to know. It has widgets for Calendar, Weather, Stocks, Reminders, World Clock and social networks. More widgets are available for download from the Mac App Store.
  • Spotlight – is displayed on the desktop and features new categories of results.
  • iCloud Drive – built into the Finder, it helps you safely store files in the cloud. Files stored in the cloud can be accessed from another Mac, from an iPhone, from an iPad, or from a Windows PC.
  • Safari – comes with a new streamlined design, a new Favorites view, a new Tabs view, separate Private Browsing windows, built-in support for DuckDuckGo, and support for the latest web standards.
  • Mail – makes it easier to edit and send attachments. Fill out, sign forms, and annotate images/PDFs with Markup. Send large files up to 5GB in size with Mail Drop. Create, send and listen to audio clips with Soundbites. New look for Messages.
  • Handoff – work on multiple devices; start an activity on one device, then pass the activity to another device.
  • Instant Hotspot – connect to your iPhone’s hotspot as if you would connect to a WiFi network.
  • Make iPhone calls on your Mac, by using the Mac as a speakerphone; send SMS or MMS directly from your Mac.
