Backblaze for Mac Provides Unlimited Backup Storage
As the title so adequately points out, Backblaze is an online backup service that provides Mac users with unlimited storage space – for a price. According to Backblaze Inc. the only thing the user has to do is click a button and the process of backing up all of your system data is done automatically – you do not have to worry about things like deciding which files and folders you want to back up, all you have to worry about is playing the bill ($5 per month or $50 per year). It must also be said that Backblaze provides the same backup functionality for Windows users as well; in fact, it has been providing it way before Mac support has been rolled out.
“You download a tiny application that installs in three clicks and doesn't require a credit card or any information to start using it. This online backup application automatically finds all your photos, music, documents, and other irreplaceable files—no matter where they are on your hard drive—and compresses and securely encrypts them. When you're not using your computer, it sends them over the Internet to the remote Backblaze datacenters,” explains Backblaze.
If you were wondering how Backblaze is capable of providing unlimited storage space for just $5 per month, the official explanation is that the Palo Alto, California-based company has a highly efficient storage system that allows them to optimize the manner in which data is stored. They are also counting on some users not having a lot of data to backup.
Here are the main highlights of Backblaze:
- Online Backup
- Unlimited Storage (for 5$ per month)
- Automatically Finds Files
- Finer Control Options
- Military-Grade Encryption
- Idle-Time Backup
- Scheduled Backup
- Web Download Restore
- DVD or Hard Drive Restore
- FSCAN Engine Performance
- Versioning
- Activity Reports
- Support for 11 languages
