Until the end of the year you have the chance to get a bundle made up of a properly good antivirus application and a performance and system optimization utility, and you can get it all for the low price of $49.95 (or the equivalent in your local currency). The antivirus application included in the bundle is Avira Premium Security Suite (APSS); the performance and system optimization utility is TuneUp Utilities 2010.

Avira Premium Security Suite, Avira’s flagship product, normally sells for $53.95. TuneUp Utilities normally sells for $49.95. If you were to get the two products separately, you would have to pay a grand total of $103.87, but since APSS is bundled with TuneUp Utilities 2010, you get the two products for just $49.95.

“TuneUp Utilities™ 2010 is an award-winning software utility suite that speeds computer performance, solves a multitude of computer problems and keeps the PC running like new. The TuneUp Utilities™ 2010 suite (which normally sells for $49.95) is being bundled with Avira’s flagship Avira Premium Security Suite (which normally sells for $53.95) for a combined price of USD $49.95 (two software programs for the price of one),” explained in a press release Avira.

To celebrate the APPS and TuneUp bundling, Avira has suggested 5 ways to “pimp” your computer. The following 5:

1. Scan your computer with AntiVir Removal Tool to ensure that malware is not causing your computer to act sluggish. Most times, malware is to blame for slowdowns. AntiVir Removal Tool, a tool that works alongside whatever antivirus software you already have, can identify and remove malware, thus bringing your computer to its former glory.

2. Use TuneUp to check your Windows Registry for errors and remove missing DLLs, invalid file associations, broken shortcuts and other issues.

3. Use the Disk Cleanup utility that comes bundled with the Windows operating system to remove unnecessary files and free up space on your hard drive.

4. Turn off Windows Defender (if you don’t know how to do this, a detailed tutorial is available here ).

5. Do all the bits and pieces presented above and then some with the Avira+TuneUp bundle.

Additional details on the Avira+TuneUp bundle are available here.

Please note the Avira+TuneUp bundle is a limited-time promotion lasting through December 31, 2010.
