Security company Avira announced that it made PC Cleaner globally available. Windows users from all English speaking markets can now get the free security product and use it to detect and repair infections that existing antivirus products missed.

“Use Avira PC Cleaner when you think your computer has a virus or infection that your regular AV software didn’t detect,” said Sorin Mustaca, security expert at Avira. “It will clean and repair any infections that it finds on your computer, and it won’t slow down your machine by even a fraction.”

Sometimes security products fail. Even though you have an antivirus or antimalware solution on your PC, malware could sneak past it and infect your PC. If there are signs that lead you to believe your machine has been compromised, then you need a second opinion scanner. You need a tool like Avira’s PC Cleaner.

PC Cleaner is a free scanner that plays nice with existing antivirus and antimalware products. The application will scan your system then find and repair infections that your current security solution missed. So if you think your PC is infected by something that your current antivirus did not detect, go get Avira PC Cleaner and put your theory to the test.

Speaking about getting Avira PC Cleaner, the good news is that Avira launched the product to all English speaking markets worldwide. The second opinion scanner, which was originally launched in Germany alone, is now available globally. You can get it from Avira’s Download Center, the Tools section. Or better yet, here are the direct download links for the English version and the German version.

And now, some screenshots so you know what you’re getting yourself into.
A review complete with a video presentation is available here.

When you launch Avira PC Cleaner, you will be presented with this prompt.

Click a button and Avira PC Cleaner will start scanning your PC.

After it scanned my PC, it found no threats. That’s certainly a good thing, don’t you think?

An additional security advice will be presented on Avira PC Cleaner's interface.
