Earlier this month, Avira, company that offers home and business security software solutions, announced that it established a subsidiary office in Korea. Avira, who has more than 100 million customers from all over the world, says its entrance on the Korean market will focus on the local community. Avira said it will dedicate itself to serve the local community and provide Korean users with “reliable products and solutions that feature the highest detection rate and the lowest time impact on system performance in the industry.”

“We are very excited about the opening of our office in Korea, together with a full suite of localized Korean personal desktop software products,” said David Ip, Vice President, North Asia, Avira. “It is our belief that anti-virus solutions should be offered as a basic necessity for today’s Internet life, that are widely perceived as ‘must-haves’. We pride ourselves with strong users growth for North Asia, and have earned industry acclamations as proved by securing major product awards in our region in 2010.”

Alongside the opening of its Korean office, Avira also announced that it launched a Korean version for the products in its Avira AntiVir 10 lineup – Avira AntiVir Personal, Avira AntiVir Premium, and Avira Premium Security Suite.

Avira AntiVir 10 has the following to offer:

Behavior-based protection with AntiVir ProActiv
AntiVir ProActiv is a feature that provides behavior-based protection and is available in Avira Antivir Premium and Avira Antivir Professional. It analyzes the way a program’s behavior to determine if it is malware or not. You know, just in case the malware slipped through the heuristic, generic and pattern-based scanning methods. If a program behaves in a suspicious manner, it is immediately blocked.

Enhanced security with Avira AntiVir ProActiv Community
Version 10 of Avira AntiVir can provide enhanced security thanks to the intelligence on emerging virus threats collected from the 100 million-plus Avira users. This enhanced level to protection is offered to Avira users who join the Avira AntiVir ProActiv Community, which is the in-the-cloud component of ProActiv.

Generic repair of registry data and infected files
Thanks to the generic repair feature, Avira Antivir 10 cleans up after as-yet-undetected viruses. Thanks to the generic repair feature Avira Antivir can look for and remove any residual data left behind on the hard disk or in the Windows Registry after an infection has been removed.

Transparent interface
The user interface in Avira AntiVir 10 has been revised to provide a better overview of available features, color coding is used to provide a simple, at-a-glance overview of system health, slide-ups appear when a problem is detected by the real-time scanner, and malware can be removed with a single mouse click.

Parental controls
Avira Premium Security Suite comes with parental controls that allows parents to manage what their children do and see online.
