Avira recently announced that its free antivirus application, Avira Free Antivirus, has reached an impressive milestone: 300 million installations. Or to put it in other words, Avira’s flagship “freemium” software has been installed more than 300 million times.

“Three-hundred million is a milestone we can be proud of, but our mission is more than a growing user base,” said Travis Witteveen, CEO at Avira. “As the consumer IT industry is moving on to smart devices and cloud technologies, we see our users’ security needs evolving and we are adapting to meet those needs.”

There are lots of users out there who want to protect their computers but do not want to spend money on a security solution. Avira Free Antivirus is ideally suited for such users. Without asking for any money in return, it provides basic protection against a variety of threats: viruses, worms, Trojans, rootkits, spyware, and other security threats.

On the 4th of July, security company Avira celebrated freedom with an interesting announcement: Avira Free Antivirus, the company’s flagship ‘freemium’ software, has been installed more than 300 million times.

More than 300 million people around the world decided to rely on this free antivirus product to protect their machines.
