Security company Avast recently announced that Grimefighter, the application that can clean, secure, and optimize your PC and reclaim storage space on your Android, has been replaced with Avast Cleanup.

Officer Pete and his team of minions won’t check your PC for problems anymore. Grimefrigher is gone, replaced by the new Avast Cleanup.

“Change is good, especially when it pushes us forward and encourages us to improve. We’ve recently made a change that will benefit our users and make their experience using our products even better. Our PC optimization product formerly known as GrimeFighter has now emerged as Avast Cleanup,” announced Gracie Robers, Social Media Community Manager with Avast.

Here’s what you can expect to get form the new Avast Cleanup.

Avast Cleanup – Main Features and Improvements
  • Remove more junk – the new Avast Cleanup can find 5 times more junk that its predecessor. And when I say junk, I mean useless files, unnecessary app processes, and system settings that slow down your PC.
  • Complete scans faster – to find junk that negatively impacts your PC’s performance, Avast Cleanup must run a scan. It can scan for junk 10 times faster than its predecessor.
  • No bloatware – many new PCs comes loaded with unnecessary bloatware. Avast Cleanup helps you remove it.
  • No leftovers – Avast Cleanup checks to make sure that no files are left behind when you update a program or uninstall a program from your PC. It immediately tells you if unneeded files have been discovered.
  • Scheduler – schedule a daily clean and Avast Cleanup will automatically do all the work.
  • Runs in the background – Avast Cleanup can discreetly run in the background. It won’t bother you as you go about your day.

If you are a licensed Avast customer and you install the latest version of Avast, Grimefigher will be automatically updated to Avast Cleanup.
