Earlier this month Opera Software has released a Beta version of Opera Mobile 10 for Symbian/S60 handsets. The software came with several features that would put a smile on Nokia and other Symbian/S60 handset owners. Features like:

-Updated look and feel. The new UI (user interface) is simple, intuitive and extremely simple to use.
- Tabbed browsing, Speed Dial, password manager, desktop favorites.
- To ensure that the webpages you visit work in the same manner they do on your desktop computer, Opera Mobile 10 Beta uses the latest generation Opera browser engine.
- Available for Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Samsung smartphones that are powered by Symbian/S60, 3rd and 5th editions.

Opera Software has now released an update for Opera Mobile 10 Beta for Symbian. The update allows the software to support several Asian languages. Project Manager with Opera Software, Helene Lund Engebø, explains:

“The ability to render Asian characters in web pages depends on the system fonts installed on the device, and doesn't require the special multi-language version to be installed. However, rendering Asian characters in Opera UI elements such as history, page title, bookmarks, dropdowns, etc requires the extra font package in the multi-language version. Note also that the additional font package will only be used if the device locale matches one of the fonts included in the package.”

The update also brings some minor fixes to the table. Here they are:
- Font handling fix that ensures the Opera browser uses installed system fonts properly.
- The cache size is calculated at a different point in the loading process;
- The number of out of memory error messages has been reduced.
- Added support for RTSP. This means Opera 10 Mobile Beta for Symbian users will be able to watch videos on m.youtube.com

If you would like to get Opera Mobile 10 Beta for Symbian, a download location is available here (if you want to download it to your desktop) and here (to get it directly on your phone).
