Artists of all ages can now enjoy a digital palette and infinite canvas on the internet. Redmond-based software giant Microsoft has recently unveiled a new project called “The Art of Touch.” Inspired by the Microsoft Touch Mouse family of products, the project allows internet users to create, save and share digital art. Seasoned artists and amateurs, young and old, they’re all invited to launch their HTML5-capable browser and take advantage of what Microsoft’s new project has to offer.

To do that, take advantage of what the project has to offer, you need only visit the ArtOfTouch.com website. Once you’re on the website you will notice that your mouse is transformed into a paintbrush – three digital brushes and six effects are put at your disposal. You can use those digital paintbrushes to create anything you want. You can create a simple doodle, or you can create a beautiful masterpiece. The choice is up to you.

“We’re using art as a way to transcend technology and make people truly come back to the essence of what a mouse should do – empowering them to navigate their favorite content, express their respective talents and bring them out to the many,” commented Senior Director of Marketing for Microsoft Hardware, Francois Ruault.

“The Art of Touch project is about an alignment between the technology – the mice as product – and the art that they have inspired,” Moir added. “For us, it was all about thinking about that inspiration and translating it into technology people can experience online.”

You can boast about whatever you come up with. You can share what you draw on ArtOfTouch.com online and via popular social networks such as Facebook. If you do that you have the chance to win some prizes in The Art of Touch Sweepstakes. These prizes, which will be handed out until the 4th of February 2012, include Microsoft Touch mice, Windows 7 PCs, and being featured on the project’s site. To win these prizes you need only create some artwork and get as many votes as possible from the community.
