Apple recently showcased the brand new version of iWork ’09 productivity suite at the Macworld 2009 Expo which is held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco (watch the keynote speech here) and hackers were incredibly fast to respond (which is to say crack it). Just a little reminder for those of you that are not familiar with this software application: iWork is a Apple’s take on creating documents, spreadsheets and presentations (think of it as an MSOffice for the Mac OS X).

Just like in the recently released iPhoto ’09, there are several new features in iWork which Apple has called Pages ’09, Numbers ’09 and Keynote ’09. Apple has also tweaked the iWork ‘09’s compatibility with Microsoft Office files and has launched a beta service called iWork.com.

Pages is a tool that allows you to work with text documents, and here is what the 2009 version brings to the table: full screen view (which will come in handy when you need to focus on the text in front of you), dynamic outlines (think of it as a handy organizer, a tool add some structure to your ideas), enhanced mail merge, more than 180 templates, MathType 6 and EndNote X2 integration.

Numbers is a tool that allows you set up charts, tables and formulas. Here are the new features of Numbers ’09: more than 250 functions (which will come n handy when you need to insert a formula), Formula List view, table categories that include a row’s summary, advanced and linked charts, 30 new templates.

Keynote allows you to create animations and transition effects for your presentations. You will find that Keynote ’09 features more themes, a Magic Move animation effect, 3d charts, text transition effects and chart animations.

Regarding the beta iWork.com service, Apple says that it is “web-based service from Apple that lets you share your iWork ’09 documents, spreadsheets, and presentations in a way that’s both simple and smart”. So, something like EtherPad or Smartsheet.

If you would like to get iWork ’09, a download location is available here.
