It’s that time of the year again. The time when Apple publishes its annual Best of 2016 charts and we get to uncover which games made it on Apple’s 10 Best iPhone Games of the Year list.

So without any further ado, here are the 10 iPhone games that Apple says are the best this 2016. Let me squeeze in one tiny thing: every iPhone game on this top 10 list is available for Android too.

10. The Trail

The Trail is a free to play game that was created by Peter Molyneux, who is best known for Dungeon Keeper, Black & White, the Fable series and other exciting games. The Trail takes you "on a vast journey across country unknown. Set forth to reach the town of Eden Falls - explore, craft, collect, trade, discover, and eventually settle and build."

The Trail is available for iOS and Android.

9. Steppy Pants

Remember that silly thing you used to do as a kid, where you would intentionally avoid the cracks in the sidewalk? Well, Super Entertainment turned it into a mobile game for iOS.

Steppy Pants is available for iOS and Android.

8. klocki

The goal in this puzzle game is to connect different types of lines together.

Clocki is priced at $0.99 and it’s available for iOS, Android and Steam.

7. Rodeo Stampede - Sky Zoo Safari

Zebras, giraffes, elephants, even lions and tigers are no match for you and your lasso. In this game you are a rodeo star and no creature will escape your lasso.

Rodeo Stampede - Sky Zoo Safari is available for iOS and Android.

6. FIFA Mobile Soccer

Back in September, EA rolled out FIFA 17 for PC and consoles. When you’re away from your PC or console and you want to get your FIFA fix, try FIFA Mobile Soccer. With over 30 leagues, 650 real teams, and 17,000 real players, it offers an authentic soccer experience you won’t want to put down.

FIFA Mobile Soccer is available for iOS, Android, and Windows 10.

5. Riptide GP: Renegade

Riptide GP: Renegade, a racing game that was nominated for the very first Google Play Indie Games Festival, asks you to enter the futuristic world of illicit hydro jet racing, where armored riders outrun cops and boost at breakneck speeds across surging waves.

Riptide GP: Renegade is $2.99 for iOS and Android, $9.99 for PC on Steam.

4. twofold inc.

twofold inc. is a puzzle game that aims to get you hooked with its good looking graphics, mesmerizing mechanics, and never-ending levels.

twofold inc. is available for iOS and Android.

3. Plants vs. Zombies Heroes

Plants vs. Zombies Heroes isn’t a tower defense game like the original PvZ and it isn’t a third-person shooter like PvZ Garden Warfare. What is it then? Why, it is a collectible card game that lets players choose their favorite super-powered plant or zombie hero and assemble a team to battle against friends and foes.

Plants vs. Zombies Heroes is available for iOS and Android.

2. Reigns

The king is dead! You are the new king and what you say goes! Will you be kind and gentle, or will you be a malevolent king? Each decision you make might have implications and unfortunate consequences down the road that could put your reign and family’s dynasty at risk!

Reigns is $2.99 for iOS and Android. It’s $2.99 as well for PC and Mac on Steam.

1. Clash Royale

Apple’s iPhone Game of the Year for 2016 is none other than Clash Royale, the real-time multiplayer strategy game that features your favorite Clash of Clans characters as well as the Royales: Princes, Knights, Baby Dragons and more.

Clash Royale is available for iOS and Android.

Speaking about Android, the Best Games of 2016 section on Google Play says that Clash Royale is the Best Game of the Year. So both Apple and Google have picked the same title for the best mobile game of the year award.

Interestingly enough, both companies have also picked the same app for the best mobile app of the year award – Prisma.
