Apple Presents Third Generation iPad

On Wednesday, March 7th, Apple introduced to the word the third generation of its popular iPad tablet and called it “revolutionary from the outside in.” The new iPad comes with a new Retina display that has four times more pixels than the iPad 2 and makes images look crisper and more lifelike, a 5MP iSight camera that can record 1080p HD video, a new A5x chip with quad-core graphics, and ultrafast 4G LTE speed so you can download, stream and browse the web faster.

Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, Philip Chiller, had this to comment on the new iPad:
“The new iPad redefines the category Apple created less than two years ago, delivering the most amazing experience people have ever had with technology. The new iPad now has the highest resolution display ever seen on a mobile device with 3.1 million pixels, delivering razor sharp text and unbelievable detail in photos and videos.”

The new iPad is available for preorder as we speak. If you pre-order it now, it will be delivered for free to your door on the 16th of March. If you do not want to pre-order the new iPad, you can purchase it from your favorite Apple Retail Store starting with the 16th of March.

To recap, the new iPad, Apple’s third generation tablet comes with the following new features:
  • New Retina Display – 3.1 million pixels (1 million more than an HD TV) to make everything you see look sharp and realistic.
  • New A5X Chip – with tis quad-core graphics, it provides a fast and responsive user experience.
  • 5MP iSight Camera – it takes stunning pictures because it features advanced optics, backside illumination, auto-white balance, and face detection. And it can record 1080p HD videos.
  • 4G LTE – the third generation iPad connects to fast data networks and delivers blazing download and upload speeds.

From a software point of view, it must be said that the new iPad which is powered by iOS 5.1, comes with a redesigned Camera app with video stabilization technology, the ability to delete photos from Photo Stream, support for dictation in English, French, German and Japanese, and Personal Hotspot.
