The exciting thing about New Orleans, at the time of writing this, is the fact that the Mardi Gras celebration is in full swing. The celebration had to take a break for the Super Bowl XLVII, but since that’s now over, the festivities are back on.

The exciting thing about New Orleans, come September, is that it will host LinuxCon North America and CloudOpen. The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of Linux, thought it a good idea to send someone to New Orleans ahead of time and scout things out. Tux was selected to go to New Orleans and scout out the best landmarks, food, drinks, and fun. See what happened by checking out the video below.

Now, about this video – it is important because it gives you the chance to win a ticket to LinuxCon North American and CloudOpen. The Linux Foundation announced that if you share the video on Twitter/Identi.ca, Facebook or Google+ using the #linuxcon and #cloudopen hashtags you will be entered into a draw and you could win a ticket or LinuxCon/CloudOpen. The winner will be chosen on Fat Tuesday, February 12.

In related “you could win a LinuxCon ticket” news, earlier this month The Linux Foundation announced that when it hits 100,000 fans on Facebook it will celebrate by giving away a free ticket for LinuxCon (North America or Europe) and a $100 Linux.com Store gift card. The winner of the prize will be chosen at random from all the Facebook fans who comment on the foundation’s posts. This means that more comments translate to more chances of winning the aforementioned prize. Right now the foundation has some 98,400 fans on Facebook.
