Rovio announced that the sequel to Angry Birds Star Wars will be rolled out to the public on the 19th of September. The company also announced that it planned something special for the 7 days before the game’s launch. Just take a look at the image below to see what Rovio has in store.

According to statistics provided by Rovio Entertainment, Angry Birds Star Wars was downloaded more than 100 million times by iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle Fire, Mac, PC, Windows Phone, and Windows Phone 8 users around the world. With these fans in mind, I am quite glad to announce that Rovio set a release date for the sequel, Angry Birds Star Wars II.

September 19th – on this date, Angry Birds Star Wars II will be rolled out for iOS, Android and Windows Phone 8. The game launch will be accompanied by the launch of new toys, plush, books, and apparel.

We’ve known since July that Angry Birds Star Wars II will introduce over 30 never-before-seen characters, will the option to "teleport" physical characters into the game via TELEPODS, and will let you choose your side. This means that if you want to join the Pork Side and play as a villainous pig, you can do so.

Let’s get back to the aforementioned TELEPODS. A line of over 30 collectable TELEPODS figures from Hasbro will accompany the 30 never-before-seen characters. When you place the figurine onto your phone or tablet, your character of choice will be "teleported" directly into the game.

“Hasbro worked closely with both Rovio and Lucasfilm to deliver a fully integrated TELEPODS experience with the new ANGRY BIRDS STAR WARS II app. Now fans can enjoy unprecedented and seamless dual play in both physical and digital ANGRY BIRDS experiences,” said John Frascotti, Chief Marketing Officer, Hasbro, Inc.
