This is an exciting week for Halloween enthusiasts. This is the week when they get the Halloween decorations out of storage, go shopping for Halloween treats, and start looking for a ghoulish outfit to wear on All Hallows Eve. It is also an exciting week because Rovio has launched a Halloween edition of the immensely popular Angry Birds game.

Rovio has released Angry Birds Halloween for iPhone and iPod touch and Angry Birds Halloween HD for iPad. You can find these editions on the App Store; the iPhone and iPod touch version will set you back a mere $0.99 while the iPad version will set you back $1.99.

“Angry Birds has become a global phenomenon, and the new Halloween-themed games combine the game play of Angry Birds with Halloween treats like pumpkins, ghosts, ghouls and ghastly costumes. Angry Birds Halloween includes 45 levels, which is three times more than our regular updates! However, that’s not all there is to these special edition apps; every aspect of the game has been recreated in the spirit of Halloween, so expect new spooky theme music, hair-raising graphical themes, and puzzling pumpkin-smashing action,” announced Rovio in a blog post.

The Angry Birds game is immensely popular, so chances are that you are familiar with it (the programmer here on FindMySoft is playing it right now as I am writing this; he’s playing theAndroid version which graduated out of Beta on the 15th of October and was downloaded more than 2 million times in the following 4 days). Just in case you are not familiar with the game, here’s the lowdown. Angry Birds is a puzzle video game created by Helsinki-based software developer Rovio. In the game some nasty, evil pigs stole the birds’ eggs; so the flock of birds sets out to retrieve the eggs. Since the pigs are hiding out in structures made from various materials, the birds have to damage the structure and then take out the pigs. What you basically do is launch birds at various structures, and try to directly or indirectly take out the pigs. Directly by hitting a pig, or indirectly by damaging the structure which falls down on a pig.
