Android App to Show Off the size of Your Wallet: I Am Richer

Who says that Apple’s iPhone holds the monopoly on expensive apps that do nothing but showoff the fact that you have loads of money to spare? Following Google’s decision to allow paid apps to make it to the Android store, amongst the first such apps to show up is “I Am Richer” – the reference to the iPhone app for which some people paid as much as $1,000, “I Am Rich”, is more than obvious.

"I Am Richer", despite its name, does not cost as much as its iPhone counterpart. It will set you back only $200, which is a bargain compared to the list price of "I Am Rich", which was of $999. I am sure the developer would have wanted to charge more but couldn’t, since the Android App Store limits the price of apps to a maximum of $200. So what exactly do you get for that amount of money? Not much!

The only difference between the "I Am Rich" iPhone app developed by Armin Heinrich and "I Am Richer" is the color of the diamond displayed on the device’s screen – it is blue, not red. Apart from that, you get precisely and exactly nothing more. To my mind, this apps is completely useless. If you want to show off how much money you have to burn, I would rather advise you to go purchase some expensive piece of technology, designer clothes, or anything else that costs a lot of money but is useful, even to a limited degree. If you have no problem with lining the pockets of a developer that prays on your vanity, then by all means purchase the app and show it off.

Google said that it has no intention of removing I Am Richer from the Android App Store. “We check applications for compliance with the Market Content Policies and Terms of Service (in order to remove malware, porn, spam, or profanity),” said Google. This decision comes in contradiction with what Apple did: it pulled "I Am Rich" from the iTunes App Store and refunded the money.
